Our nature-based occupational therapy sessions harness the power of outdoor environments to support children’s growth and development. Research shows that exposure to and participation in nature can enhance cognitive function, sensory processing, and physical and emotional well-being. In a natural setting, children experience unique sensory inputs—like varying textures, sights, and sounds—that challenge and strengthen their sensory processing abilities. Nature-based therapy facilitates engagement in activities that build motor skills, self-regulation, emotional-regulation, and resilience, all while fostering a lifelong connection to nature. Studies demonstrate that nature-based OT can boost attention, cognition, reduce symptoms of anxiety, and support overall development and wellness. We not only bring therapy outside, but we use nature in itself as a powerful therapeutic tool to facilitate gains across areas in the following domains: fine motor, gross motor, bilateral coordination, balance, strength, visual-perceptual skills, visual-motor skills, and more.
